Rapunzel

I have been growing my hair out for the last year, and it is now at the longest it's been since my freshman year of college. I know for most of you, my hair is quite an average length. But for me, it's just like Rapunzel's.

However, I now have a problem. With summer fast approaching, I am DYING to chop it all off. The long hair is totally annoying, takes forever to dry, and gets in my way. All day long at work, I put it in a ponytail, then braid it, then put it in two braids, then a bun, then back down again. If I'm not careful, I might take the scissors in the mug on my desk and just chop it like a crazy person (a la Drew Barrymore in "Grey Gardens.")

Here is my hair journey.

What do you think?! Should I persevere in growing it out to Blake Lively-esque lengths, or should I just whack it off?

(Also, while we're on the subject, I could always go brunette again...)

As a fellow constant hair changer I vote for growing it out!! You've come so far if you cut it and then decide you liked it long you'll have to wait another year to get back to where you were.

there are a few reasons that i will smack you across the face for cutting your hair...

a) it's taken you for-ev-er to make up your mind to let it grow this long.

b) it looks fantastic - down, pony, messy pony, you could never do any of these looks with your shorty hair.

c) you have always played with your hair, but when it was short, you just couldn't braid it or put it in a bun. nevertheless, have always messed with it.

no. cutting.

First of all, I look like such an adorable pregnant lady in that first picture!!

Second, December 2008 is my favorite length, but I say grow it out for a couple more months and see how you like it! You can always cut it...

And third, blondes rule!

I say grow it out and donate it to Locks of Love. You've come this far, you might as well do something good with it!

Chopped mine off and it feels SO GOOD! Weird to shake you hair out of your eyes (reflex) and nothing moves except my brain in my skull.

You, my dear, pull off the shorter hair with aplomb. I, on the other hand, have been desperately growing mine out for over a year after chopping it into a mom-cut in February 2008. It's just now passing my collarbone. I cannot wait to once again have a flowing ponytail a la Liv Tyler.

Also, you know Marisa and Annie (my friends in Nashville), and also Bethany (my friend in NYC from a TOTALLY different circle of friends). How? Who are you? Why haven't we met? I LOVE THE INTERNET!!! :)

I love that this post has so many comments! People REALLY care about your hair, Jamie! August 08 is my favorite style from the pics, but I say keep growing it out. Wait until it's LONG and then donate it, like someone else said!

My vote is to challenge yourself and grow it out! I'm loving it this length and you can have fun braids all summer long!

You can't donate your hair if you've colored it.
