I am by no means the most fashionable of the fashionable. I do, however, I like to steal from my roommates' closets; I read every fashion magazine - particularly in September; and I live in New York City. I figure that all has to count for something.
So, here is my take on some of the top wearable trends for fall 2009, brought to you courtesy of my noodlings with polyvore.com, a super addicting site...
(click image to enlarge)- Plaid. Think plaid shirts, but with a feminine edge (e.g., ruffles).
- Leather. Fitted jackets, skirts, accessories.
- Skinny jeans. Dark wash, gray wash...tucked into boots or with heels!
- Opaque tights and leggings.
- Metallics. Shimmery shoes add pizazz to any outfit!
- Neon. Oh yes. The '80's are BACK.
- Cozy cardigans and knits. Perfect for layering or with a belt.
- Cowboy boots. As with plaid, western chic is in.
- Pencil skirts. A great way to venture into the leather frontier!
- Gray. Jeans, sweaters, dresses. The new neutral.
- Boyfriend blazer. Oversized or shrunken. Even with '80's shoulder pads!
- Layers. Start with dress. Add cardigan + belt + scarf + tights + boots. Repeat.

i'm glad that my cowboy boots (purchased pre-jessica simpson, in 2004) are back "in style" though i never really stopped wearing them :)
I am excited for the feminine details and the opaque tights (make my legs look thinner!)
i like the plaid ruffles and i really want some cowboy boots haha

I'm with Suzanne that leggings should not be work with shorter shirts, but absolutely love them as a layer under a dress or a denim mini skirt. ESPECIALLY with a plaid, ruffled shirt! I have a couple waiting in my closet, screaming to be worn. Also, I am FINALLY going to go for the skinny jean this season. Wish me luck!
Since I'm usually a few seasons behind on trends, I may try the skinny jean this fall...
I love skinny jeans, metallics, and the boyfriend blazer, but I am most excited about the day I get to buy my new patent leather flats (i won't name drop just yet on who makes them..) and the awesome leather jacket I bought for $11 at a second hand store.
These past few days, i have been rockin my motorcycle jacket from BR and my new gold metallic flats from Steve Madden Luxe!! (excited!!)
